The Manicuring Academy Certificate of Completion provides a foundation for continuing personal, professional, and educational development. Students will be able to communicate essential skills and practices, incorporating the health and safety standards necessary to reduce and minimize public safety issues in the workplace. This certificate will cover introductory and intermediate manicuring skills and concepts. Training will include the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology health, safety, and disinfection standards; instructional lectures and practical application; and written and practical examinations. Students completing this certificate will have intermediate theoretical and practical knowledge of industry safety standards to infer evidence-based application and reasoning of best procedures and practices. Upon completion of this certificate, students will have demonstrated this knowledge in daily practices within a simulated salon environment on patrons from within the community. Students will have completed the training requirements for manicuring, as outlined by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology for licensure. Locally projected increases in manicurist workforce demand will expand career opportunities to students within various employment opportunities for high desert graduates. Job opportunities include self-employed manicurists, beauty school educators, manicuring product developers, freelance and special event hires, salon management and ownership, as well as expanding into other industries where aesthetics and self-care are evolving.
