Students can apply for a state permit if they have work experience in this career field. Verification of experience is not required for the certificate issued by Victor Valley College.
To be eligible for the Child Development state permit (Teacher), students must have 175 days of work experience, which can include unpaid volunteer experience, within the past 4 years. A day of experience is equal to a minimum of three hours and is not cumulative. For example, if a student works less than three hours, then the day does not count. If the student works more than 3 hours on a single day, then the student is credited for one day (regardless of number of hours worked). To verify work experience, students must complete a Verification of Experience Form. This form must be submitted with the Permit Application. Contact Heather Hammond-Williams, in the Child Development department, via email at heather.williams@vvc.edu for assistance.
